Espíritu Market × MUAN — Fine Knitwear for Moments of Presence

Espíritu Market was born from a simple idea: create a space where artisan brands dedicated to quality, sustainability, and authenticity can be truly seen. In our San Miguel de Allende marketplace, every piece on the rack or shelf carries a story, of hands, time, and place. Rather than focusing on trends, we look for brands whose work feels timeless, grounded, and deeply human. Among these, MUAN  has become one of the houses we admire most: a fine knitwear brand whose pieces are designed not just to be worn, but to be lived in.

MUAN

Founded in Guanajuato, MUAN is a knitwear house built on the mastery of tejido de punto, Mexico’s refined knitting tradition. From the beginning, the brand has focused on garments that feel both precise and soft—pieces that accompany daily rituals rather than overpower them. MUAN’s language is one of calm silhouettes, thoughtful proportions, and fabrics that invite touch.

Their collections are often described as “fine knitwear for moments of presence.” That phrase captures the heart of the brand: sweaters, ponchos, and cardigans meant for reading in the afternoon light, walking slowly through town, sitting with friends as the evening cools. Each design is quiet, but never anonymous; the closer you look, the more the details reveal themselves.

Natural Fibers and Careful Construction

MUAN works exclusively with natural, plant-based, and noble fibers—organic cottons, fine wools, and carefully selected yarns sourced from ethical mills. The goal is simple: create garments that feel good on the skin and make sense for the earth. These fibers hold color beautifully, breathe with the body, and age with grace when cared for thoughtfully.

From loom to label, every piece is shaped by hands that know their craft. Traditional knitwear techniques are combined with quiet innovation to ensure each garment hangs just right, holds its structure, and retains that soft, lived-in feel over time. Instead of chasing fast production, MUAN chooses precision and endurance—knitwear that can move through many seasons without losing its relevance.'

A Design Language of Ease

MUAN’s design language is understated and deliberate. Silhouettes tend to be generous rather than tight: open-front cardigans, ponchos that drape rather than cling, sweaters that invite layering. This ease of shape makes their pieces naturally versatile—equally at home in a city apartment, a coastal town, or a highland plaza.

The palette leans toward neutrals and earth tones, with occasional deep blacks or soft color accents. The effect is seasonless: these are garments that are not tied to a particular trend cycle, but to the rhythm of your own life. One MUAN piece can move from morning to night and from one year to the next without needing to be replaced.

Shared Values with Espíritu

At Espíritu, we are drawn to brands that treat craft as a form of respect, respect for materials, for time, and for the people who wear their pieces. MUAN embodies exactly that. Their knitwear is slow by design: made with intention, meant to be kept, and always rooted in the places and techniques that shaped it.

Our own huaraches are handcrafted in Michoacán and created to walk between worlds—city and countryside, ceremony and everyday. MUAN’s knitwear lives in that same space. Together, huarache and knit become a quiet uniform for people who value comfort, honesty, and subtle beauty over noise.

Why We Carry MUAN at Espíritu Market

We carry MUAN at Espíritu Market because it represents the kind of design we believe in: grounded in Mexican craft, committed to natural materials, and created for a slower, more intentional way of living. It is a brand we admire, not just for how its knitwear looks, but for how it feels and what it stands for.

If you cross paths with MUAN, whether in our San Miguel space, in our online marketplace or elsewhere, we hope you will take a moment to feel the weight of the knit, notice the details, and imagine how a single piece might quietly become part of your own daily rituals.
